🚗 Automotive Embedded Systems

Real-time engine control, ignition timing, CAN diagnostics, and hardware-software co-design for automotive control units.

Overview

Real-time engine control, ignition timing, CAN diagnostics, and hardware-software co-design for automotive control units.

Challenge

Automotive control is hard real-time and safety-relevant: precise per-cylinder timing from noisy crank signals, with the reliability bar that automotive clients demand.

Approach

Where I've worked on this:

  • Built a custom STM32 ECU for a German client (EBabutzky GmbH): multi-cylinder ignition scheduling from a 60-2 crank signal, dynamic dwell, and CAN diagnostics

Results

Direction: deterministic, verifiable real-time control and functional-safety practices for embedded automotive systems.
