STM32AutomotiveSpeeduinoCANGermanyReal-Time

Custom ignition and engine control unit for a German automotive engineering client (EBabutzky GmbH). Real-time multi-cylinder ignition scheduling with 60-2 crank encoder, dynamic dwell control, stepper motor control board, and CAN diagnostics.

Overview

A custom engine control unit (ECU) built for German automotive engineering client EBabutzky GmbH. The STM32-based system performs real-time multi-cylinder ignition scheduling from a 60-2 crank signal, with dynamic dwell control, a dedicated stepper-driver board, and CAN diagnostics.

Challenge

Engine control is unforgiving real-time work: ignition has to be scheduled precisely for each cylinder from a noisy 60-2 crank signal, dwell must adapt to engine state, and the unit has to meet the quality bar of a German automotive engineering client — all on an embedded MCU.

Approach

Real-time ignition and control on STM32

  • Multi-cylinder ignition scheduling derived from a 60-2 crank encoder signal
  • Dynamic dwell control that adapts to engine conditions
  • A dedicated stepper-motor driver board for actuation
  • Modbus RTU/TCP communication and CAN diagnostics for integration and tooling

Results

  • Delivered a custom ignition/engine-control unit for EBabutzky GmbH (Germany)

Add to confirm: cylinder count, RPM range, timing resolution, and the STM32 part used.
